Video chat cannot see your camera or microphone

Steps to allow the camera and microphone in Chrome, Yandex Browser, Safari, and on Android when video chat will not start or cannot see the camera.

Test the camera in chat

The chat asks for the camera once, on the Start screen (18+). Until the browser gets Allow, there is no picture of you. Below is where to click if you dismissed the prompt or chose Block.

Chrome

  1. Open the live chat and press Start.
  2. Click the lock to the left of the address.
  3. Camera → Allow. Microphone → Allow.
  4. Reload and press Start again.

If the lock has no switches, open Chrome settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Camera and Microphone. Remove the site from Block. On Windows, also check Settings → Privacy → Camera, and allow the browser.

Yandex Browser

  1. Click the lock left of the ruletka.me address.
  2. Allow the camera and microphone for this site.
  3. Reload. Start asks again.

Script blockers sometimes swallow the prompt. Turn them off on this tab and try once more.

Safari

On a Mac: Safari → Settings → Websites. Choose Camera, then Microphone, and set this site to Allow. If the system asks whether Safari may use the camera, confirm it under System Settings → Privacy & Security.

On iPhone there is no separate app. Open the site in Safari, press Start, and allow the prompt. If it never appears, check that Safari is allowed for the camera and microphone, then close the tab and open the chat again.

Android

  1. In Chrome, tap the lock → Permissions → Camera and Microphone → Allow. Reload.
  2. If you installed the app: Android Settings → Apps → Ruletka → Permissions → Camera and Microphone → Allow. The package name is me.ruletka.app.
  3. Close Camera, WhatsApp, Telegram, and any other video chat. While they hold the lens, the browser gets a black frame or an error.
  4. Restart the browser. If that fails, restart the phone.

Permission is on, and the chat still does not connect

Permission only gives the browser a picture. The two browsers then build a WebRTC connection. A strict NAT, an office network, or a provider filter can leave the chat on “connecting” even when your own preview is visible.

Try another network (mobile data instead of home Wi-Fi, or the reverse), turn off a blocker, and keep a single chat tab. We do not promise that video will connect on every network, and we do not promise a way around a provider limit. If you can see yourself and not the other person, that is the path between you, not a missing camera permission.

Rules and reports: safety. A call to one person: friend video call.
